The movement has a frequency of 36,000 VpH and a power reserve of minimum 50 hours. The leather strap has white stitching as well as a micro-blasted titanium pin buckle that matches the case’s finish. In low lighting conditions, they stand out with a green glow. Furthermore, the brand used white Super-LumiNova on the hands and markers. The dial enhances legibility with gray counters and tachymeter scale on a deep black backdrop. Unlike the manual movement of the original prototype, this version features the El Primero 4061 automatic chronograph movement, which the user can admire through the display back. It features the original 37mm case but made of micro-blasted titanium with a dark gray matte finish instead of black coated stainless steel. As the company prepared to launch a 50th anniversary design in celebration of El Primero, the original prototype of the dark chronograph came to light among other artifacts, in an attic space.Ĭhronomaster Revival “Shadow” blends both vintage and modern features in an elegant as well as distinctive design. Shrouded in mystery, the design appeared only in a few official records and was believed to be lost. Named Zenith Chronomaster Revival “Shadow”, the timepiece reimagines a mysterious prototype from 1970. Now, Zenith has launched a special watch design that pays homage to the brand’s history. Renowned Swiss watchmaker Zenith has always pushed the limits with innovative designs, from the first automatic chronograph, El Primero, to the Inventor watch that features a ground-breaking monolithic element instead of a regulating system with more than 30 components. The black rubber strap with a cordura-effect features a touch of white on the stitching, fixed to a microblasted titanium pin buckle that matches the stealthy finish of the case.Inspired by a mysterious prototype from 1970, this watch effortlessly blends vintage and modern features. The hands and applied markers are filled with white SuperLuminova that emits a bright green glow in the dark. ![]() In spite of its dark demeanor, the Shadow remains a highly legible chronograph, with grey counters and tachymeter scale subtly contrasting against the deep, matte black dial. And unlike the prototype from 1970, which feature a manual-winding chronograph movement, the Chronomaster Revival Shadow features the most prolific automatic chronograph ever made, the El Primero, visible through the display back. But instead of the traditional choice of stainless steel with a superficial layer of black coating, Zenith has opted for microblasted Titanium, bringing out the dark grey nuances of the lightweight yet highly durable metal with its completely matte finish. Inspired heavily by the obscure black chronograph prototype from 1970, the Shadow is housed in a 37mm case, a faithful reproduction of the very first watch fitted with the El Primero, the A384. The Chronomaster Revival “Shadow” reimagines what could have been, rather than directly reproducing a historical Zenith timepiece.
